Port City revives the Alexandria brewing tradition of the Robert Portner Brewing Company from the late 1800s. The company thrived until 1915, when Prohibition came to Virginia, and the brewery went out of business. Like a phoenix, Port City was founded in January 2011 and is serving great craft brews.
