The Chicago Resume Exchange is a new professional development resource created by the DC Alumni Club to provide Alumni in the Washington area and current students interested in pursuing professional opportunities in the area over the summer or after graduation with the opportunity to have their resumes reviewed by experienced local Alumni to ensure that their experience, education, and skills are presented professionally and effectively.

The DC Club has received significant interest in the Exchange, but before it can take off, we need local Alumni to help review users’ resumes.

The DC Alumni Club is always looking to recruit new alumni volunteer reviewers. If you are interested, please complete the online application form today! Alumni of all ages and levels of professional experience working in any professional field are encouraged to apply.

Volunteer Criteria
We are looking for looking for Alumni Volunteers who:
• Work and/or live in the Washington DC area;
• Have some experience reviewing and editing professional resumes;
• Have some familiarity with the professional opportunities typically available in their field, as well as the basic qualifications that are generally expected of applicants seeking opportunities in their field.

Volunteers are NOT required to be human resource professionals or have significant formal training editing resumes. Experience editing the resumes of colleagues, classmates, family, and friends; volunteering for a hiring committee or reviewing resumes of applicants to their organization; or periodically revising their own resumes is sufficient.

How It Works
Applicants submit their resumes and basic background information to the DC Club’s Career Development Team, which will match each applicant to the most appropriate alumni volunteer reviewer, based on their common interests, academic backgrounds, and professional experiences.

Reviewers will have approximately 7 days to review the resume and send edits and constructive comments directly to the applicant. Reviewers may make themselves available for follow up questions from users at their discretion. Reviewers will be able to identify how many resumes they will be willing to review per 3-month period.
