We are very pleased that Washington, DC has been selected as a site for one of the 2015 trek programs through the Office of Career Advancement. UChicago Careers in Public and Social Service (UCIPSS) will be bringing 15-20 students who are interested in exploring DC’s think tank and advocacy landscape.

Hosted by the UChicago Alliance for the Civil Society, an affinity group targeted at alumni working in the nonprofit, government, and policy sectors, this special reception will be a great opportunity for local alumni, parents, families, and friends to meet and share their local knowledge and experience with current College students. We are hoping to connect as many alumni as possible with a new generation of UChicago students interested in living and working in the Washington, DC area. Alumni of all industries and academic backgrounds are welcome!

About UChicago Careers in Public and Social Service (UCIPSS) Treks:
UCIPSS provides support for students interested in pursuing careers in non-profit, policy, government, and related public and social service sectors. Our programming is available to all students in the College in the forms of one-on-one counseling, skill-building workshops, events, and treks.

Treks are one of the ways in which we provide career exploration experiences. Each trek features a different city and concentrates on professional opportunities in a particular career field. Treks are designed to give students a practical understanding of both daily life in their field of interest and how they can best prepare themselves to successfully find a career in that field. Participating students have the opportunity to expand their professional network, learn more about potential jobs and internships, and find out whether a particular career field matches their interests, skills, and values.
