Sian L. Beilock is Executive Vice Provost and the Stella M Rowley professor of psychology at the University of Chicago. An expert on the science behind “choking under pressure,” Beilock has received support from the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Education. Her critically acclaimed book Choke: What the Secrets of the Brain Reveal About Getting It Right When You Have To was published in 2010; and her new book, How the Body Knows Its Mind: The Surprising Power of the Physical Environment to Influence How You Think and Feel, was published in January.

Buy How the Body Knows Its Mind. A limited number of copies will be available for purchase at the lecture.

Read two UChicagoNews articles featuring Beilock’s research—one on how the body can influence the mind and the other on why we “choke” under pressure.
